 Boss Idea?

Hi dear members of Clan Ravenholdt. Today you will all get the opportunity to contribuate to the map itself.

Tomorrow I will create 2 new bosses of BoW and I would like YOU to tell me what it should contain!
Do not write a whole bossfight, just write parts of it to let others join in and keep on telling the scenario, then I will take out the best parts and make 2 bosses out of it which will be posted in "Project News" tomorrow (2011-05-13).

Here are some things that you could think of:

-Element?
-Name?
-Spells? (Splash? AoE? Line? Single Target?)
-Weakness?
-Strong Point?
-Ranged Meele or None?
-Environment?
-Model?
-Story?
-5 Man or 10 Man?

Lagirth the Holy Spirit

Element: Light/Darkness

Mode: 5 Man.

Model: Yellow-ish whisp.

Can't move normally, nor attack.


[Spells:]

[While having more than 70% health.]

Ethereal Being: Every 30 seconds after Divine Being, Lagirth will become immune to all melee/normal damage, and only take damage from spells/chaos.

Divine Being: Every 30 seconds after Ethereal Being, Lagirth will begin blocking every spell that hits him for the time of this spell.

Punishment (Passive): Every 10 seconds, every player still alive will take 20 damage. Every time this happens, damage is increased by 20.

Dark Form: Boss will cast this when it's HP reaches 70%. Lagirth will teleport into middle, and turn into dark whisp.


Dark Form:

Vortex of the Shadows Lagirth will hurl bolts of darkness at random players every second. Deals 40 damage.

Shadow's Touch Instantly brings life of all nearby players to 15%. Casted every 1 minute.

- Dark Nova is casted after 4 seconds of casting
Shadow's Touch. It'll deal 20% of each players max HP as damage.

Mark of the Shadows Random players get marked, and after 4 seconds, gets damage dependant on range between boss and player. (Range divided by 2 is the damage dealed.)


Cleanse and Devastate: At 10% the boss will stop casting everything he used to cast in Dark Form, and begins to channel "Cleanse and Devastate".

If the boss is not killed in next 15 seconds, Lagirth will instantly wipe out all players by dealing 90000 damage to whole group.

Okay, so there was a RPG i was playing a while back and i gave this same idea(tweaked it a little bit) before the updates on it stopped. PLEASE dont look at the numbers. I don't know what the exact numbers of damage/health need to be in order to be balanced. Just look at this as an idea. And sorry that i wrote the whole bossfight, i just think all the mechanics are key to the fight. You can delete this post if neceserry.

The Three Gorgon Sisters - Medusa,Stheno and Euryale ( I think the models should be standart gorgon models)

Mode - Should be 10 man considering the 3 bosses at once.

Medusa(some other name because its already taken)

Normal Damage : 180 (ranged)

Hit Points : 60k

Abilites in Phase 1

Multi-Shot : Fire's one arrow at every enemy hero dealing 150 damage.

Chill of the Deeps : Increases the atack speed of all alies by 30% and decreases the atack speed of all enemies by 30%.Lasts 10 seconds. It can be disspeled.

Normal Damage : 70-92 (ranged)

Hit Points : 60k

Abilities in Phase 1 :

Frostbite : Deals 50 damage on every enemy hero and applies a debuff that reduces their magical ressistance by 15%.This ability can stack endless times untill the party is wiped. So you can say that this is a soft enrage timer.

Empowered Frostbolt : Fires a frostbolt at a random enemy unit (except the tank) at the speed of ~300. The projectile flies for 6 seconds and gets melted. (you have to kite it around,because if it hits you , your dead)



Euryale

Normal Damage : 105-141 (ranged)

Hit Points : 60k

Abilities in Phase 1 :

Freezing Sight : Whe she casts this ability she will freeze everything infront of her for 10 seconds. 2 seconds casting time (you should run away from this).

Chill Shot : Every succefull attack she makes gives her one stack of Frost Orb (5% atack speed). It stacks 10 times. When it gets to 10 stacks her next atack will deal 2000 bonus damage. (the tank should absorb that ability) (Passive ability)



Phase One:
Multi-Shot is used every 5 seconds. Chill of the deeps is used every 15 seconds. Frostbite is used every 20 seconds. Empowered Frostbolt is used every 15 seconds. Freezing Sight is used every 10 seconds.

Phase Two :

Phase two starts when one of the gorgon sisters dies. When she dies the other two restore to full health (that way you cant kill all 3 in the same time). The two left gorgons will still be casting their abilities but now both of them will have a bonus ability :

Sister Bond : Does 10k damage to every enemy hero. This ability is used by the living gorgon when her last sister dies. 8 seconds casting time (It cant be interrupted)

That way you will have to kill both of them in the exact same time.

Okay, iam going to try and be a little diffrent. in every boss battle, there's a boss and he has certain spells. and u just stand and hit him. well tanking isn'tthe hardest part there.(I am tank) so I wanna make something new.

Name (I suck at names) The Holy Paladin. Ah fu*k it I HATE names.

Skin Like a Paladin. Bigger

Terrain Ground would be like a Road. Ston-ish but lighter grey. And Pillars/Blocks/Maze That you can Run around with the boss following you.

Gameplay Okay so this would be the most important part. ( I think ) Well the boss is a paladin. He has alot of Dmg so the healers would have alot to do. But Instead of everyone attacking him. Some Dps runs 2 the four corners. And press a switch. Or that they will have to kill a mini boss or something. When all the Switches are pressed. The boss will Turn to a sheep ( or something) and Have an immolation that damages very much. And he would move slower. So the tank has to run around the blocks becasue he would die otherwise. And while that's happening the ranged dps Attack as normal. and the meele Dps will have a Tank ( Or something that way) to mount When the boss is this way.And the healers will DPS/Buff After some seconds/minutes the boss turns normal and you will have to redo everything. Before the boss switches i would have alot of armor so you will have to Press the switches. Of course it will take some time to Find/run to the switches. The idea with this is that the Tank will have Alot to do and not just stand and use heroic strike. and the Dps and healers will try something diffrent from every other boss. And of course it would be pretty easy to Just heal the tank and Shieet so i figured we add some Towers that will constantly shoot at random Dpses. So the Healers have to keep an eye at their HP if the boss would Use ''Angels strike''.

Boss Skills This is now a part I am not very creative with. But i would figure the boss has spells (In it's normal shape) Like:

Stun a random target
Angels strike or something that damages every Unit 50%
This Skills will make the boss invunerable. He will Summon a Lightning bolt That lights up A certain area. It will move around. Eveything else will be all dark. If you get to far away from the bolt you will die. This will make it a little harder. And the boss will only use this once or twice.

The boss in ''Sheep'' form.
Blink (random spot)
Very High Damage Immorlation

Name: Infernus the Lavacaller
Spells: summon creeps, damaging people that are far awey from him, casting aoe damaging all close to him (it's what makes you need to keep your eyes open)
Weakness: takes 250% more damage to water and ice spells.
Strong Point: High amounth of armor, immune to fire spells.
Attack type: Range
Envierment: Volcano
Model: Fire lord model provided by wc3
Difficulty: 10 man
Story: Infernus was ones as everyone else not bourned and he was still waiting for his egg to hatch, the egg was a huge unbrakeble rock. A group of dwarves found his egg inside a volcano and felt that something was breathing iside it. The dwarves jumped to the conclusion that this was how the dwarves where originally bourned and started worshiping the rocks. They thought the creature inside this giant rock was another tribe of dwarves and realised that if the egg was to hatched it needed to be warm. So they held it at a safe distanse over the molten lava that where pouring in the volcano where they found the egg. for almost 230 years they kept the egg warm and when they where about to lose hope it hatched and they where overjoyed. However they soon found out that what was waiting in the egg was not a dwarf tribe but a molten elemental. When they tried to talk with Incendius he simply laughed and killed all who had kept him alive. He then went to the dwarven kingdom and enslaved the entire race. Happy with his work he started to attack random villages. When he realised that the mortal races didn't give him any major resistance he sought to deafet the water titan.
Infernus where a long time ago deafeted and killed by the water titan as punishment for trying to cover his home with fire and molten magma. After killing him the water titan locked his essence awey for all eternety where he thought none would find it. However a group of cultist found the essense and brought it to the place where Infernus was bourned and waked him up once again. Reacently aweken Infernus is at a weakend state and it's if not the only time mortals will ever have a chanse to deafet him since the only one threating his existance was killed by the verry ones who now seeks to destroy him.
Insendius has recently found a way to create other fire elemental that will be able to spread his will. Some of the dwarfs willingly came to him again and take others with them with force. Now as he is gatharing an army the mortals must strike before his powers are to strong.

Since we have ideas for every element but Earth, I'm gonna try to make one. I'm sorry but since I'm at school I have no access to pictures, but the model would probably be the Earth Golems in a bigger size. Or it could be a Scorpion depending in which actual boss idea you'd like.

Terrain: Sand with some ruined pillars lying around. The theme of the terrain would be like a ruined human city, rome-lookalike but there's a lot of sand there. (Same for both Golem and Scorpion)

Scorpion Boss Fight Phase 1:
This phase will start at 100% HP.
The Scorpion summons other Scorpions to help him, pretty weak ones, but with really annoying poison (You need to dispell it or you'll die) They'll however move very slow, so you should be able to avoid getting poisoned. The Scorpions will bury as soon as you enter Phase 2, but they can't die.

Scorpion Boss Fight Phase 2:
This phase will start at 90% HP.
The Scorpion gets tired of meaningless fighting and goes under ground, to pop up on random raid member, there'll be a animation showing where he appears. After he appeared he will then try to charge the same player, that should try to hide behind a pillar, if not managing to hide behind a pillar, he'll get 99% damage and a poison damaging 5 seconds later, for 5% He'll also get stunned for 3 seconds. This will be repeated every 30 seconds untill he reaches Phase 3.

Scorpion Boss Fight Phase 3:
This phase will start at 40% HP.
The Scorpion get's raged and starts to attack a lot more furious, having more damage and attackspeed, however he'll be taking more damage.

Scorpion Boss Fight Phase 4:
This phase will start at 5% HP.
The Scorpion will then bury, and rise up at random player, killing him instantly. and then he'll go tired which reduces hes attackspeed a LOT.

Kill him and he's dead.

Observate Phase 4 Attack Speed reduce is to prevent a group from wiping because of tank/healer getting struck by hes spell.

Golem Boss Fight Phase 1:
This phase will start at 100% HP.
The Golem will be throwing rocks each 30 seconds, preparing in 5 seconds standing still with a dust storm rising around him, everyone should try to move out of range. Observate that the boss will stand still on the same spot all of Phase 1, and there'll be somekind of marks in a circle around him showing how long range the spell has. He'll also call forth a dust storm 5 seconds after running from the walls, all the way to the marks showing where the rocks can't reach. Getting hit by this dust storm will toss you right into the golem, stunning you for 15 seconds, thus having 5 seconds to move out of the mark.

Golem Boss Fight Phase 2:
This phase will start at 45% HP.
The Golem will transform into a bunch of smaller golems, and they will all run after a random player, the player is supposed to make them run into a pillar/other object. If he doesn't manage to do this they'll instakill him and everyone else in X range. This will be in a recycle and happen every 20 seconds. The way he splits himself will take 4 second to give the tank or melees a chance to run away.

Golem Boss Fight Phase 3:
This Phase will start at 5% HP.
The Golem summons hes pet "The Scorpion", playing the Phase 4. The Golem will also stand beside and fight too.

I was thinking that can't be a real rule. I don't think Sverkerman actually minds if the whole bossfight get's done in 1 hour, instead of a few days, with so mixed up that he could color him rainbow. I don't think anyone has a problem with that the bossfight I wrote actually was a whole bossfight, in most of the categories.

I figured you probably would like to change/update something since you say that. So you could always make the things I didn't write. For example, you could write the lore.

Thanks everyone for posting and for showing such a great interest!

All bosses mentioned here has come into concideration. Some I will make almost compleatly as described, some I will just take parts from.

Bosses are in the making as I type this message and I will additionally record while creating those bosses for you to learn abit about terraining.

Zayabusa - Council Rouge.

Model: Chaos orc blademaster.



Every X seconds (pretty often, perhaps every 20 sec), zayabusa will roar for one second and then spin to a random position in the boss room and then to the position of a random players hero. (Note that the position is set before he finished spinning, when he turns to be exact), dealing damage to anyone he touches. Where he turns he will also spawn minions in a circle.

When he turns there is also a X% chance that he will perform a Time shift no jutsu (w/e), stoping time in true anime ninja fashion, causing all heroes except one to be frozen on the spot. He will then spin back much slower than usual and create a time ward between the summoned minions that has X hp, the time ward must be destroyed quickly by the un-freezed player or someone will surely die. This freeze effect should be able to be dispelled though, if possible.

I actually have the scripts for this spell, It was for a boss in one of my unreleased maps, so I just need to do some minor editing and then give you it, simple.



Ofc he has a bullet attack, like twintrix or yomar or whoever, which should be fast and deal not too much damage. The model should be the phoenix missile (the tiny one), this because he should have a regular phoenix missile as a weapon attachment (looks awsome)

Blood Council Suprem Commander: General Cazzlor
Model: Orc Shaman!
10Man mode, The one just before the Blood Council.

Lore: Cazzlor is the Suprem Commander of the Blood Council amry (Chaos orc's, undeads etc) He was chosen for his Ability lead and destroy. He was put throw several tests by the Blood Council to test if he was worth enought joining the army, He and 4others survived and each got a part of the army. Cazzlor who barely survived the tests was deturmind to take control of the entire army and become the new Suprem Commander. The other 4 Captains had the same idea but wanted to take care of Cazzlor since he was growing in power fast. They Combinded thier armys and attacked Cazzlor. He was lossing and had to act fast. so in a despret atempt to push back the enemy armys he challanged the 4 Captains to a Duel. Him vs them. They laught at him, but they accepted. What the they didnt know was that Cazzlor had order his army to bomb the Enemys making them weak and unable to fight back. The duel was just a distraction. The duel started and the 4 captains attacked, Cazzlor reaveld his strenght and before they knew it they where up agains the wall fighting to survive. Cazzlor's atempt to end the battle fast failed. He was taking a beating, they wanted to make him suffer. They where just about to finnish him off when they heard a sound. Distracted by the bombs Cazzlor saw his chance and Killed 2. The others 2 recated to slow and where killed just 1second after. The enemy army where weak and with the lose of the leaders they surrender to Cazzlor. The suprem Commander Hag'hoth arrived shorty after with the Presance of the Blood council. Cazzlor feard the Commander since he at any moment could kill him. The Blood Council told Cazzlor that they had seen hes great victory agains the other 4 Captains. and wanted to offer him a chance to become the New Suprem Commander. Hag'Hoth hear and was Furius. The Blood Council left but not Hag'Hoth, he didnt want anyone to take his place and launched a invation on Cazzlor, outnumbered Cazzlor used his head to even out the battle field out. Hag'Hoth was strong on land and sea, But weak in the air. Cazzlor saw this and made a Army in the air. Hag'hoth attacked and lost. Cazzlor's men caputred Hag'hoth. Cazzlor then Finnished him of in the eyes of the Blood Council. They saw his power in both body and mind. They Rewared him with great power of a Ledgendary Artifact called *Claw Of The HellHound! Now leading the Blood Council army as the Suprem Commander he's never lost a battle witch makes him the Final Test before fighting the Blood Council. What Horrors will he unleash with his new weapon?!

The lore might be wierd and spelled bad, but im doing my best and will try to make it better. Tell me what you think!
